Out with the boring

I posted earlier about how hardware can totally change the look of a piece of furniture and I was inspired to do something about the dresser in our master bedroom.

This is before. It's ok. The hardware was never my favorite and because the knobs were square and whenever one got a little loose it would be all askew and drive me nuts. Plus they were kinda boring brushed silver and a little small for the scale of the dresser. I had good intentions of changing it but never got around to it.

ps...sorry for crap photo quality, the good camera was dead.
oh, and I had already done one side when I decided to take a photo. oops.

So enter these concave gold knobs I found. Sooooo much better! It's like they always belonged. Hooray for easy fixes that only take 15 minutes!

I'm toying with the idea of doing these drop pulls on the lower 4 drawers....hhmmmm. Thoughts?

For the kiddos...

I know I don't normally post a lot of kids stuff, but when I got the spring catalog for Mini Boden, I decided to change my mind. My little one has worn more than her fair share of the line and I have to say it's one of my faves. It is made wonderfully and stands up to the abuse she puts her clothes through. Here are a few of my favorites from the new catalog. I am dying to get that scallop pattern dress and that striped swimsuit. Go to bodenusa.com to see the whole catalog. Love!

Looking for: Hardware

I'm on the hunt for some fabulous drawer pulls. 99% of the time, the drawer pulls that come on furniture are ho-hum or straight up ugly. New hardware is a great way to breathe new life into an old piece. It changes the look completely. Here are a few of my faves that I've found along the way.

Bathroom in B&W

Hope most of you are enjoying a well-deserved day off today. I have been meaning to post this bathroom that is featured in the current issue of Veranda. I am totally in love with the black + white marble floors and that acrylic table. Simple, clean, and modern. Everything a bathroom should be.

Whitney

I never was the biggest of Whitney Houston fans, but she was one talented lady and I certainly remember singing in my hair brush to "I Wanna Dance with Somebody". It's always sad to hear of someone's death and she did have her fair share of problems, but let's not forget that crazy voice.

I found this clip of Whit singing the Star Spangled Banner at a Super Bowl. Well not so much singing it as bringing it. It's the prefect WH video. The headband, the one earring, the hair, the WIND SUIT (whaaaat! yes!) and the song. This video is dripping America, and I love it. Oh Whitney, this is how I will remember you.

I promise I will get back to posting about design. Happy Wednesday!

St. Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Hope all of you have fun plans tonight whether it is with a husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend, friend, mom, dad, dog....anybody! I happen to like Valentine's day. Yeah it's over commercialized. But I think any day that reminds you to tell the ones in your life how much you love and care for them can't be a bad thing, right? The little one and I made homemade cards this year. That was interesting with a 17 month old. The hubs and I celebrated last night with a lovely evening out. Although I still wanted to get him a little something for today...so what's a girl to do for a guy who doesn't want candy or flowers?

Two words....liquor bouquet. Don't judge.

Have a great night!

Room Crush: Dark & Stormy

I love the look of this room...the black trim and black bookcases (and black floors!!) against the stark white walls and glittery chandelier. Who wants to sit on that couch in a hot pink dress? I do.

New/Old Navy

I recently popped into Old Navy to grab a few pairs of PJs for the little one and I walked out with a few new spring blouses for myself. I'm not normally an avid Old Navy shopper, but the fun stripes and colors of these tops caught my eye. And the best part, they are all around 20 bucks! Who doesn't love guilt free shopping?

I'm pairing this one with my J Crew bubble necklace

Here are a few other fun options to spice up your spring wardrobe without breaking the bank.

Sputnik

I have been searching for a light fixture for a master bedroom, and I just wasn't feeling a lot of things I was seeing. The room needed something just.... really good. Then I ran across this photo and it all made perfect sense...
Yesssss! The sputnik chandelier. Perfection in a light fixture. It has the uncanny ability to work in both modern and traditional rooms. Most are done over dining tables, but who wouldn't want to lay in bed and look at one of these? Ordered and done.
They come in all different price points (the Jonathan Adler being one of my faves, but not everyone can drop $1500 on a light) so do a little searching.
3??!! yes! why not!
