A Pieces Visit

I blogged earlier this month about Lee Kleinhelter and her store, Pieces. I was in Atlanta this weekend, so of course I HAD to make a stop. I was not disappointed. The store is insanely wonderful and I wanted to purchase every single thing I saw in there. Mostly this piece, that if it were not for the $3,800 price tag (ouch), it would have been mine.

lucite AND bamboo! it was so amazing in person.

I did manage to make a small (yet fantastic) purchase...this little gold urchin lovely that now sits on my coffee table. I'm hoping the baby doesn't notice it so I don't have to move it because it will certainly be a deadly weapon in her hands.

Having a moment

I am having a serious green thing going on right now. I can't seem to get enough of it, especially this pretty kelly green color. I suppose it's because I'm longing for spring (although the weather here in the South is pretty spring-like). It just feels strange to bust out spring and summer clothing and colors in January. But if the weather stays like this, I might have to. And someday I'm going to use that Kelly Wearstler trellis wallpaper somewhere.

Want it

I am dying over this Tory Burch cardigan right now.

A little re-do

Last night I decided to tackle a project I have been putting off for forever...recovering a little bench/ottoman. I don't have a before photo because in the drama of trying to figure out how to get the freakin' legs off, I forgot to take one. However, I will assure you this is a definite improvement. The old fabric was ok...not great, not terrible. A fun Ikat print, but with sad colors. It was a steal at Homegoods so I bought it to re-cover. And because I love a good animal print...ta da! It's just what the room needed.

And these lovelies just recently came to my door thanks to an awesome sale on The Outnet. They are super awesome and super high. This mama will have to wear them when I am sans baby. There is no way I am chasing after a toddler in these bad boys.

Loving: Liz Caan Interiors

Liz Caan is a woman after my own heart. I scanned her Tastemaker sale on OKL and then decided to check out her website. Her portfolio is amaaaazing. Her use of color and texture is spot on. I strive to be that brave with color. Here are some of my favorites. Check out more of her work at lizcaan.com.

A little bit of Zen

I'm normally not into the whole Japanese-Zen style of decorating. It feels a little sterile and sparse for my taste (to each his own). But then I came across this beauty. The designer did a fantastic job of marrying the Japanese aesthetic with a more modern, comfortable feel. Now this is zen I can get behind.
when is a black and white stripe rug never a great idea?

Loving: Leif

I ran across this great little online shop, Leif, the other day and I had to share. Great stuff, even greater prices. It's not a huge site, so you know all the items have been carefully selected. I am loving the agate trivet set and the gemstone magnets. Check out the rest of the site at leifshop.com. Happy Weekend!

An Old Favorite

I have had this lamp forevvverrrr. I think I remember buying it at Target when I moved into my first apartment. Let's face it, that was like, a million years ago (ok, more like 10...still...long time). Surprisingly it is still around AND I still like it. It's a cute height, I love the base, and the shade goes with anything.

I decided, however, that this little guy needed a little facelift. So I grabbed the glue gun, some decorative trim I had lying around and...voila! Literally 3 minutes later...a new and improved old friend. This lamp and I are in it for the long haul.

I have another easy DIY that I'm mulling around in my brain. I'll post when I get around to actually doing it. Happy Wednesday!

The Spades

I'm sure some of you (if not all) have come across the wonderfulness that is Kate and Andy Spade's NYC home. I have poured over every detail and have yet to find something I dislike. Do they need a houseguest? I would be more than thrilled to call this place home. It has been all over the blogs forever now, but it's worth a re-post. Per yesterdays post...girl (or guy) can make a mad vignette. Enjoy the awesomeness.

Art of the Vignette

A room never seems complete until you add those little details that bring out your own real personality. Artwork, collections, photos, objects...these add the finishing touches that make a room feel more like your own. Nothing gets the job done faster than a vignette. A great vignette is carefully planned, and constantly being added to, subtracted from and rearranged.  Find a table, shelf or bookcase and get to work! Here are some of my favorite vignette examples.

Bring on the color

I don't know about you, but I am over these dreary winter days. I am ready for the color of spring and summer. Anybody else super excited about the neon trend? You better believe I will be sporting those orange Sperrys all season long. Happy Friday the 13th!

Victory!

I have been searching for the perfect pair of brass floor lamps for what seems like forever. I needed them to be simple and modern and preferably with an ivory shade. And the hardest part...around $50 each. I didn't want to spend a fortune on lamps that I may tire of in 6 months...a year...who knows. Those who know me know that my house is ever changing. The hubs wonders when it will be done...I say it will never be "done". So anyway, where did I find these mythical beings of light...wait for it....Wal-Mart.

Ta da!

They also have a few other nice options. Who knew?
